Fashion Essentials: Chanel 2.55

Probably Coco Chanel wasn't aware of the fact that she was creating an historical bag. But the truth is that in february of 1955, thanks to the inspiration of it's creator, an emblema accesory was born: Chanel 2.55.

This bag is the only one of it's nature that we can call mythical. Which of you haven't dreamt of having one of those? Who wouldn't want to have a bag as beautiful as this one, the only one that combines with everything, from jeans and a cotton shirt to an elegant party dress.

According to the legend, Coco was inspired -to create the 2.55- in the padding of saddles that she often saw in Suresnes racecourse in Paris. With the advent of Karl Lagerfeld to Chanel, the bag was rejuvenated. The kaiser impose certain changes to the 2.55 in size and shape. In 2004, the line was updated and recieved a new name: Cambon, in honor to the street where Coco Chanel used to live in Paris.

Nowadays, celebrities love this bag and they use it in various colors, as red, pink, white, black, etc. Want one? Get a few thousand dollars.

Steal Style: Olivia Palermo

Do you know somebody else that has a style like this?Have you ever seen a girl who looks perfect and polished everyday and every hour? Well, if you do, it may be for sure, Olivia Palermo. This Manhattan -royalty- girl starring in MTV's "The City" along with Whitney Port, looks perfect everytime a camera comes in her way.

Olivia is concious of her "queen of Fifth Avenue" role, so she's very meticulous when it comes to fashion. She isn't a fan of the messy style that most people of her age love. Her style is more formal, elegant and chic. Palermo always look harmonious, and has the power of turning any piece of cloth in an elegant thing to wear. This
socialité loves combining black and white.

Her favorite garments are blazers, skinny pants, pencil skirts, boots, peep toes and designer handbags. Some people say that Olivia's style and bitchy personality inspired the producers of Gossip Girl to create Leighton Meester's character, Blair Waldorf.

Steal Style: Shenae Grimes

This girl from Toronto is becoming -step by step- a total referent in terms of style. You don't know her? She's one of the principal characters in CW'S series "90210", and also starred in Degrassi.
Only 19, Shenae has stood out -even more than for being a good actress- for her casual, comfy and original look. Her style is a good example of what we call "street style"...she's always wearing cotton shirts, leggings, plain boots and Converse snickers.

In a recent interview with Seveteen, Shenae admitted that her favorite places to shop aren't like the typical choice of celebrities. "I love Urban Outfitters — it’s an amazing staple. Also, Forever 21 and H&M", she said. The actress told the magazine that "a pair of Chanel pink-toe classic 2-inch pumps with a gold chain across the toe and quilted heel" is one thing her closet could never part in, along with her "cropped blazer from Urban Outfitters that goes with everything".

Her style inspiration comes from Mary Kate Olsen. "Her and her sister are some of my favorite designers", Shenae told Seventeen. When asked about starting her own line, the actress said that she would love to do it one day: "I want to take baby steps. I think longevity is key in everything. Right now they’re just thoughts. Hopefully things will come into fruition".

Get the look: Gossip Girl Style

Gossip Girl has been one of the most talked about shows during 2008 and 2009. The show, apart from being a super hot combination of drama, comedy, romance and a great script, it's a reference in terms of STYLE. It's a fact that Gossip Girl's cast style is always on top of the trends. Blair and her friends are always looking extremely gorgeous and fashionable just combining school uniforms with cute and original accesories, coats, belts, shoes, headbands, etc. Although most of the characters on Gossip Girl are rich Upper East Side Manhattan kids who can afford to look good, there are plenty of ways to knockoff the styles from the show! Here are some ideas.

Blair Waldorf wears a headband almost every show and has a very classy style like Audrey Hepburn or Jackie Kennedy. She's the Queen B, always cutting the edge of fashion. She loves opaque tights, white, navy blue or red coats, Mary Janes, jackets, skirts and dresses. The accesories are essential in her look, so she'll always be carrying a cute bag and a pearls necklace.

Serena Van Der Woodsen's look is always sexy and a bit messy. She's a boho chic Upper East Sider who got inspired by Kate Moss. Serena loves wearing boots, mini skirts, skinny jeans, leather jackets and shorts with opaque tights and flats. Altough, her look is much more simple than Blair's.

Jenny Humphrey is a evolutive character in terms of personality and style. In the first season, her look was very innocent and she was always trying to be like Blair and Serena. Now, her style is sexy and a bit agressive. Anyways, she loves wearing trenchs, stilettos, colorful tights, mini dresses and hats.
